DISCLAIMER:  In an effort to draw responses, I will be posting a couple of questions below.  I care not for "happy, bubbly Christian answers."  Just be honest.  Your response will be apart of my next post.  Thank you.

Does any ever find that Christianity is boring?

What about church, are you excited to go?  If not, why do you go?

I don't find Christianity, as a whole, boring.... but more often its the waiting that bores me.  As Christians we're supposed to wait on God, wait for a sign, wait on a blessing, etc... but our fleshly attention spans aren't always cut out for the wait.  The world offers so many turns, off ramps, and exits that it becomes more exciting... I think that's truly what makes Christianity seem boring.

Church... personally depends on my relationship with Him.  A couple years ago you couldn't keep me away from church.  Now, my prayer has slacked off, my worship has gone down, and church seems like a task rather than a tease.  (however, each task has its reward)

I used to be excited about church... now it seems more like a chore sometimes.  Not all the time.  But it seems like we are having to do so much that we don't have a chance to experience God like we should.  Also my attitude... that usually gets in the way of worshipping while I'm serving.  I would love to be excited about church again.  I'm sure I will be.  I think it also has a lot to do with where I am.  I'm not excited about anything.  I would rather sleep.

I get bored when it ain't edifying or deep--when it's a religious ceremony rather than a gathering of the saints in the name of Jesus.

I dont think christianity is boring if it is taught the right way. However a lot of the time preacher tend to lecture and go on and on about some of the same things that people have all their lifes. Im not saying that whay they are teaching isnt any good, it's simply, the same. Thats what bores me, the teaching.

I think I am excited about fifty percent of the time. Some days I will wake up ready to go, refreshed and wide eyed and happy and i get in my car, listen to some music and go to church, happy and excited.I dress my best, smile, and greet everyone. Then there are those day that i look at my clock say, i really could go back to sleep, but i have to go to church, it's not an option to sleep in (you know that) so grumble;grumble, i get out of bed and throw something on and just go. By the time i get there im a little more awake and a bit more happy, but those days Im not excited.

Having spent more of my life as a non-believer than as a believer, I can confidently say that the Christian life is no more boring than the non-believing life.  Although, someone above noted that they tended to have their focus in the wrong place whenever they were bored, and I find that is true with me also.

oh and i just read your last post. i think christianity is fun if you get into it. most people who go thru the motions jsut are getting ti and it can seem boring. you just have to actually understand it and it makes more sense and becomes AMAZING.... by the way im turning my life around for the better!

Both.

There are times I feel suffocated by the invisible rules we Christians place on ourselves and each other. How to talk, walk, dress...etc.

Once I figured out that a life lived in a box is not a life that glorifies God I wasn't so bored.

Church is definitely boring if a) the Holy Spirit is not working, b) you're not willing to receive Him and His words for you.
I am currently living in a city (where I go to school) where I cannot find a church that I am excited about going to. Whenever I go home, I am ecstatic to go to my home church. If I sense that a church is stuck in its habit of what it's been doing for years on end the way that it's been doing for years on end, I can't stand it. The Holy Spirit wants to move in God's people, and that means listening to what God wants to say even if we're not comfortable with it. When a teaching is dry, it's probably cuz it's not Spirit-filled. The person teaching is probably not excited about what he's saying. God wants to change the world, not help us build up our bubble of Christianese-ness. God is exciting.
Now, that's not to say it's always easy to go to church, that the message God is saying is always happy, feel-good. But if it's Spirit-filled, you'll feel and hear God calling you to something specific from the teacher's message.

'smy four cents. Come back to us, nelly!
